The Office of Academic Affairs oversees all academic departments and the faculty, academic facilities, including classrooms and studios, Admissions, Artward Bound, the Center for Art and Community Partnerships, Graduate Program, the Godine Library, the International Education Center, Professional and Continuing Education, and the Registrar's Office.

The Provost/Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs(SVPAA) collaborates internally and externally as an advocate and facilitator for the curricula (undergrad, graduate and continuing education) and the faculty and staff who provide and support these curricula. The SVPAA oversees faculty searches and performs faculty reviews. The SVPAA utilizes information from AA staff and all departments on campus to make curricular and budgetary decisions to provide sustainable procedures and processes that support the College’s mission and values. The SVPAA’s direct reports are: department chairs, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, Associate Dean of Academic Administration, Director of Academic Operations, Executive Director of Data Management, Dean of Enrollment, Executive Director of Center for Art and Community Partnerships, Dean of Graduate Programs, Registrar, Director of MassArt Museum of Art, and Director of International Education Center.

The Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs(AVPAA) duties include oversight for accreditation; program development, internal and external assessment and reviews; and curriculum design. The AVPAA handles faculty affairs such as faculty evaluations and concerns; represents the College on various city- and state-wide committees, associations and initiatives (i.e. COF, assessment, dual enrollment, and performance metrics). In addition, the AVPAA assists in international partnerships, enrollment management, and the academic budget process.

The Associate Dean of Academic Administration(ADAA) duties include oversight and/or management of academic resources, including: academic and instructional space use and planning, academic technologies and equipment, academic budgets and budget development, academic exhibitions spaces and programming, and supervision of the College’s sStudio mManagers as academic support staff. The ADAA supports the planning of campus-wide curricular events (i.e., Fashion Show, Open House/Open Studios, Portfolio Events, end-of-semester departmental reviews, etc.), and collaborates on- campus planning with A&F, Facilities, IT, and Student Development offices.

The Director of Academic Operations(DAO) is responsible for oversight of the MSCA contract administration including all required reporting, advising senior level administrators on contractual matters, coordinating and working with Tenure and Promotions Committees, administering the faculty evaluation process, sabbatical requests, faculty staffing, issuing all faculty contracts, faculty professional development funds and oversight of all faculty official personnel files. The DAO manages the multi-million dollar adjunct budget and supervises the administrative support staff for all 15 academic departments. The DAO is responsible for all department chair matters, such as coordinating and recording all chair meetings, monitoring their terms, elections, workload reductions, and generating additional reports of all academic data necessary to create the Chairs Dashboard, various state required reports, and accreditation reports. Other duties are coordinating the College-wide spring awards and prizes that includes chairing and coordinating the College-wide Awards Committee.

The Staff Associate duties include scheduling for the Provost/Senior Vice President, the AVPAA, and the ADAA. The Staff Associate also works with the Dean of Academic Operations in administering the MSCA contract (i.e. faculty evaluations, contracts, maintaining faculty data). In addition, the Staff Associate plans events such as New Faculty Orientation and the Academic Awards Ceremony, as well as overseeing the Faculty Foundation Fellowship process.
